The AVX is a premium priced (same as Pro V1 and Pro V1x) multi-layer model with a cast urethane cover, meaning it’s what would commonly be referred to as a “Tour” model. More than 45 players have teed up the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x models on the PGA TOUR since their introduction – including Will Zalatoris who put new Pro V1x immediately in play to begin 2023 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, his first start on the PGA TOUR since his win at last year’s FedEx St. Jude Championship. Posted November 7, 2020. The left dash is a ProV1x with slightly reduced spin rates, aimed at players who spin the X too much around the green; it was an option that Titleist offered their Tour players, and now sell retail. The comparison of the left dash should probably be limited to the ProV1 and ProV1x; the AVX is a completely different The Tour Preferred X is the bees knees. For me, it's significantly better than the Pro V1x. Around the green I find it almost identical, maybe a touch less spin. Where this ball really performs is in the full shots though. I have always thought the Pro V1x left a little to be desired into the wind, and the TPx is everything I have hoped for. Pro V1 is the softer ball and offers the best combination of distance, spin, and feel with a penetrating flight. Pro V1x flies higher and spins more with irons and wedges, while still offering low spin on longer shots. There are white and yellow options. The white balls are available in numbers 1-4, 5-8 and matching double digits from 00-99.
Pro V1x - Firmer feel. Spins high around the green (almost identical to Pro V1), spins lower with longer shots. This low spin with the longer shots is very attractive to high spin, high speed players. This lower spin will make mis-hits and errant shots more manageable than with a higher spinning golf ball like Pro V1.
Lower spin balls tend to fly further off irons and higher by design. The difference in balls is mostly feel and short game spin. If you normally chip or pitch the ball and it goes past the hole then a urethane ball would probably change that. Crossfield did a comparison, Wilson Duo Pro, Titleist Velocity and PV1.
Titleist’s 2023 Pro V1 and Pro V1x will be available globally on Jan. 25 for $54.99 per dozen. The colors include white (play numbers 1-4, 5-8 or all the same play numbers 00 or 1-99) and optic
